Thimphu Thromde’s HICDP Project site visits

The Finance Minister of Bhutan, H.E. Lyonpo Leki Dorji and the Ambassador of India to Bhutan, H.E. Shri Sandeep Arya, accompanied by officials from the Embassy of India, Ministry of Finance of Bhutan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan and the Office of the Cabinet Affairs, visited two major project sites in Thimphu Thromde implemented under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).

The Traditional Cantilevered Bazam Project at the Centenary Farmers Market, with a committed fund of Nu. 35 million, commenced in March 2025 and is scheduled for completion by March 2026. The project preserves Bhutanese architectural heritage while improving pedestrian connectivity in the Centenary Famers Market (CFM) area.

The North Thimphu Bus Terminal Project at Dechencholing, with a committed fund of Nu. 42.5 million, began in June 2025 and is scheduled for completion by November 2025. The project aims to develop a modern transport hub to enhance commuter convenience.

The visit reaffirmed the strong partnership and shared commitment of the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of India towards promoting sustainable and people-centered community development under the HICDP.
