Today marked the first sitting of the Fourth Thromde Tshogde, signifying the beginning of a new chapter in Thimphu Thromde’s journey of urban governance and development.
The session began with the traditional Zhudrey Phuensum Tshogpa and Marchang ceremony, followed by the election of the Deputy Chairperson of the Council. Thuemi Dorji Gyeltshen from Babesa-Simtokha was elected as the Deputy Chairperson of the Fourth Thromde Tshogde.
As part of the transition process, the Executive Secretary officially handed over the official documents to the Thrompon, marking the commencement of the new council’s term.
The session also endorsed the Chairperson’s First 100-Day Pledges, outlining a set of priority initiatives focused on enhancing public service delivery, and strengthening governance. The Finance Division also presented an overview of approved budget for the FY 2026-2027. The ceremony concluded with offering of Zhabten to His Majesty the King and with a renewed commitment to collaborative leadership and faster, more responsive public service delivery.
